POST : FITTER

Reports to the: Power Plant Engineer

Core Job Description: Preventative maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation and manual. Resolve technical equipment problems to minimize interruptions resulting from equipment breakdown or failures. Be detail oriented, focused and adept at interpreting blueprints.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform mechanical repair and preventive maintenance to maintain the equipment in safe and efficient manner to achieve production.
  • Follow the maintenance procedures and ensure the completion of work is done up to standards.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance to solve equipment failure efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspection according to maintenance requirements and ensure maintenance compliance.
  • Ensure mechanical work is performed in accordance with safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment.

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to proactively work within a team together with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Experience in maintenance of plant equipment such as Steam Turbine, Air Compressor and Pumps.
  • Effective communication skill both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative in prioritising tasks.

Personal Specifications:

A holder of NTA level 4 or equivalent, a combination of relevant academic qualifications with minimum of 5 years working experience in industrial field.

POST: HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND AGRI TECHNICIAN (01 Post)

Reports to the Heavy Equipment Supervisor.

Core Job Description: Read & understanding equipment operating & repair manuals and execute the works as per manufacturer’s instructions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Able to identify and list spare parts that are required for the repairs in a spare part catalogue.
  • Understanding the hydraulic & electrical schematics, able to diagnose a problem and perform the repairs.
  • Perform scheduled & preventive maintenance / repairs as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Diagnose and identify malfunctions, using a computer & other diagnostic tool.
  • Fully understanding equipment “system operation” such as power train, engine, transmission, hydraulics, brakes, electrics and monitoring systems.
  • Overhaul and test major components and systems abovementioned.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment accessories and components.
  • Properly record and report the details of the job that has been performed to his foreman or supervisor.
  • Will be requested as and when required to coach, guide & train mechanics.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

Core Competencies:

  • The position holder shall be required to perform other duties on the following types of equipment:
  • Articulated and rigid heavy Tractors above 120HP0.
  • Earth-moving equipment such as Graders, Crawlers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Generators.
  • Cane Harvesters and Mobile Cranes.

Personal Specifications

Form four, holders of the Government trade test certificate level two /grade two or level three /grade one. A combination of relevant academic qualifications, at least 10 years working experience on Heavy Vehicle, earth moving or Tractors as a mechanic + 3 to 5 years’ experience working as a technician on the above type of equipment. Working experiences in industries such as mining, sugar production, tractor, heavy & earth moving equipment dealers recommendable.

POST: HANDYMAN

Reports to the: Civil & Rail Engineering Manager

Core Job Description: Basic repair and maintenance tasks including Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry Masonry and Painting works for company buildings and equipment or appliances.

Key Accountabilities

  • Fixing or repairing leaking plumbing fittings and system where necessary.
  • Quickly, carefully and accurately fix or repair of simple electrical defects in the houses and offices.
  • Quickly, carefully and accurately fix or repair of simple carpentry problems in the houses and offices.
  • Attend simple masonry and painting touch ups where necessary.
  • Responding to clients’ repairs and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performing repairs on company machinery, equipment and appliances.
  • Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
  • Conduct performance assessment of company appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, ovens, coffee makers, ice makers, etc.
  • Provide clients with support and guidance on maintaining their appliances and equipment.
  • Keeping and taking care of all the working tools or equipment assigned to him/her. Make sure they are safely kept and in good working condition all the time.
  • Ensuring that he/she reports in time to working place, works diligently, cleans the site before leaving and observes the working hours.
  • Ensuring that he/she wears the proper personal protectives for his/her own safety and should observe the safety of others on the workplace.
  • Reporting timely and follows up the works that are above his level for further technical support.
  • Performing any other related job as would be assigned by respective supervisors

Core Competencies

  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.
  • Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Detail -oriented with an aptitude for problem solving.
  • Holds a valid motorcycle driving license.

Personal Specifications

Standard seven (7) or Form four (4) certificate, CBET level ll/lll or a combination of relevant academic qualifications in plumbing or Electrical or Carpentry with minimum 2-3 years’ experience in real estate/facility repairs and maintenance.

POST : FOREMAN LIGHT TRACTORS AND CANE LOADERS

Reports to the: Light Equipment supervisor

Core Job Description: Supervising Tractors and Cane Loader Section. Ensure the repairs are Performed timely and efficiently.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Daily Reporting of the work progress, technical issues or any other problem in the Section to the Head of Section.
  • Ensuring the fleet under the Head of Section responsibilities is well maintained and in Good working Condition.
  • Reporting any misuse or improper operations or any abuse on equipment to the Workshop Operations Manager.
  • Ensuring that all items such as technical and machine information, hours spent on repairs Maintenance is properly recorded and filed.
  • Ensuring all equipment’s are thoroughly inspected before and after the off crop.
  • Ensuring that the off-crop repairs are properly planned, parts ordered, and repairs are Performed professionally and efficiently.
  • Supervising and Ensuring the Tractor / Cane Loaders repairs are performed with quality.
  • Daily reporting of work progress, technical issues or any other problem in the section to the Head of section.
  • Ensuring the Spare/items which are issued or delivered are immediately fitted on the Equipment’s.
  • Observing OSHA Regulations at work.
  • Daily controlling of Labor force.
  • Performing any other related job as assigned by the supervisor.

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to work on odd hours.
  • Strong super visionary and leadership skills
  • Effective communication skill both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative in prioritising tasks.
  • A computer literate especially on Excel, Word and Fleet Management.

Personal Specifications:

A holder of Certificate /diploma in Agriculture engineering /Mechanic engineering or Automobile Engineering with minimum of 5 years ‘experience as a foreman in field.
