DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Objectives

The objectives of this position is to perform the driving of DRC Tanzania work is carried out and ensure the safety of the staff, looking after the vehicle assigned to him, and ensure that the DRC driving rules and regulations are followed.

Key Accountabilities

  • To perform all regular driving duties of DRC in Tanzania
  • To ensure that you are familiar with safety procedures relating to vehicles and travel, and that all such procedures and guidelines are followed
  • To take responsibility for the safety of passengers, and to ensure both driver and passengers wear seatbelts at all times.
  • To ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and fuelled at all times
  • To carry out daily checks (water, oil, battery, tires, windscreen wipers, etc.) and clean the vehicles to which you are driving
  • To accurately record all journeys made and fuel supplied on the log sheets provided
  • To ensure that all traffic regulations and DRC speed limits are observed
  • To adhere to all security guidelines of DRC
  • To be responsible for all items according to the inventory in the vehicle
  • To take responsibility for all goods and equipment carried in the vehicle when driving
  • To ensure the vehicle is securely locked at all times when not in use
  • To perform related duties as and when required by DRC

Person Specification

Essential

  • A valid driving license that covers all light vehicles
  • Responsible attitude and a mature understanding of the nature of the work
  • Experience in driving four-wheel vehicles
  • At least a year of experience in off-road driving
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Verbal and written English

  • Experience of working as a driver for an NGO
